In 2023, ServeWA and Farallon Strategies brought together Washington service programs to gather input on the implementation of a new Washington Climate Corps Network in support of Governor Inslee’s climate action goals. The intent was to get preliminary ideas and feedback from programs that are already operating in WA that could ground truth the bill’s basic outlines and lay a foundation for future development once adopted.
During the convening participants identified opportunities, challenges, and coordination approaches for the proposed bill (1176 in house, 5247 in senate) and supportive funding to empower service programs to play a more central role in state climate action.
The memo offers some recommendations for the development and implementation of the Washington Climate Corps Network that arose from an analysis of themes and implementation considerations that arose from the discussion.
